The Cashmere Goats at Hermit Pond Farm

The cashmere goat herd at Hermit Pond Farm is a product of 26 years of selection for fine and crimpy fiber, good production, and healthy body conformation. The Hermit Pond goats are a little on the small side, corresponding nicely to the little old lady who is their sole caretaker. For many years, the herd was predominantly black, but purchases of prize-winning bucks from other farms in the Northeast have brought other guard hair colors and styles into the herd - light brown and white with hints of grey.
